The mural is entitled, “Soar and Explore,” and was designed by local artists, Jose G. Nolasco, Valerie Gaino and Ruby Dudley. This vibrant work of art embodies the spirit of acceptance, prosperity and peace in Marina, California. It was painted by lead artist José G. Nolasco with guidance from José Ortíz and contributions from the Hijos del Sol Artist Collective and the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District’s Summer Art Academy. Jose G. Nolasco, the lead artist, is a talented illustrator, mural artist, and current student at Cal State Monterey Bay. José Ortíz is a mural artist, art educator, mentor and director of Hijos del Sol.
