Sun Street Centers to Hold Golden Anniversary Gala at Tehama Golf Club

Celebrating 50 Years of Addiction Recovery Services in Monterey and San Benito Counties

Salinas, CA (February 12, 2018) ¾ Sun Street Centers today announced it will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a grand gala at the Tehama Golf Club in Carmel. The VIP event will mark a half century of Sun Street Centers’ addiction recovery and prevention services in Monterey County.

The gala will include a program of keynote speakers, dinner, and a live auction. Items currently donated for the auction include an original painting from Italian artist Giovanni Pulze; a $15,000 gift certificate to Kerry Lee Jewelry in Carmel; a weekend package in Napa; and an overnight stay in Tehama. Funds raised will directly benefit the expansion of services for men and women, with a new facility slated to open in King City in 2018. To inquire about tickets, email goldenfifty@sunstreet.org.

On January 12th, Sun Street Centers kicked off their Golden Anniversary with a partner appreciation luncheon held at the Rodeo Grounds in Salinas. The program included a special video message from the late founder, Martin Dodd, on the state of addiction recovery. It also included keynote speeches from board members and community partners who have supported addiction recovery for many years.

The Gala is made possible by the Golden Jubilee Guild, comprised of sponsors like Taylor Farms, Salinas Toyota and Dataflow Business Systems. Events throughout the 50th Anniversary Celebration year include the Taste of the Wild West Spring Fling, held on May 3, 2018 at Paicines Ranch supporting the women’s residential program in Hollister; the Summer Soiree in support of the Anne C. Leach Scholarship Fund supporting men’s long-term recovery; and the Alumni Family Fun Day at the Sherriff’s Posse Grounds on September 9th, supporting families in recovery.

The new facility in King City, in partnership with Monterey County Behavioral Health and the Board of State Community Corrections (BSCC), will house both men’s and women’s residential, as well as outpatient services. King City is located 47 miles from the nearest substance abuse disorder (SUD) treatment facility. Currently, there are no SUD treatment facilities in South County. Also included in the Golden Jubilee celebration is the opening of a brand new women’s residential facility in Hollister and a women’s sober living environment in Salinas.
