AMP Media, the community media organization for Monterey County, is pleased to announce the recent hiring of Christine Winge as our new Executive Director.
Effective August 21st Winge will be replacing Paul Congo who is retiring after having served as the organization’s Executive Director since its establishment in 1998.
“After a nationwide search for the right leadership to bring AMP into the future, the board of directors have chosen Christine Winge,” says Nancy Amadeo, Board Chairperson.
“She brings expertise in multiple key areas that will bring new opportunities as we adapt to the changing world of community media. Her background in media, nonprofits, and development makes her the perfect choice to take the helm of this important organization.”
Winge, a long-time Monterey Peninsula resident, comes to AMP Media from the USS Hornet Sea, Air & Space Museum in Alameda, CA, where she served as the Senior Director of Operations. Her background includes broadcast news, fund development, consulting, and operations. She holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Clara and Bachelor’s degree in Social Science from UC Berkeley. When she’s not working Christine enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and traveling.
“I am honored to be selected for the position and excited about the opportunity to continue to advance Access Monterey Peninsula as a champion of free speech, public access, government visibility and education,” says Winge. “I also look forward to establishing a higher level of visibility for AMP Media within our community through strategic partnerships.”
