Construction is underway on an affordable housing project in The Dunes area of southern Marina. It will add 140 apartments to the region as soon as 2024 amidst the ongoing housing crisis.
“In a press release, Marina City Manager Layne Long applauded the project, stating it will increase the city’s affordable housing supply by more than 30%. About 150 families are on a waiting list for the 420 affordable apartments in Marina. The average family waits at least four years before moving into affordable housing.” – Tom Wright, Reporter/editor, Monterey Herald.
