If you are looking for creative, customized gifts and apparel for others (or yourself), Seaweed & Sawdust has you covered. They offer a wide variety of gift and branding products, including mugs, t-shirts, tote bags, drink sleeves, plaques, customized gifts and more.

Seaweed and Sawdust recently participated in our Marina Chamber of Commerce “Get to Know” email interview so we can all get to know more about these creative, local artisans.

When and how was Seaweed and Sawdust started?

Seaweed and Sawdust was all started because we wanted to turn our hobby into a business. We officially started operating last April. We went from customizing for our friends to events like Flair on the Farm.

How was the name for Seaweed and Sawdust chosen?

We wanted something to represent where we live and what kind of products we offer. Seaweed for the area and the type of process of “weeding” for some of the products I do. (Weeding is when you get rid of excess vinyl material in projects). Sawdust for the woodworking part of the business.

What is the mission of Seaweed and Sawdust?

Our mission is to bring happiness in the personalized and non-personalized items we sell. From delicate detailed wood carvings to apparel, we want to bring a specialty to the customer from our house to yours.

How many employees do you have?

We are a wife and husband team.

What services or products do you offer?

We offer personalized and non-personalized gift items. We produce wood pieces, apparel pieces, bags, mugs, beverage sleeves, earrings, keychains and canvases. We have several techniques we use in application on non-wood pieces, such as vinyl, sublimation and screen printing.

How do you advertise?

We advertise through Facebook, Instagram and word of mouth. We are trying to set up a bigger online presence.

How was the current location chosen for Seaweed and Sawdust?

We are a home-based business.

What are your company goals?

To expand our customer base. We love doing what we do and want to share it with the community.

What are some interesting facts about Seaweed and Sawdust?

We are transplants to the area; we came from a little town called Coalinga. We have been on the central coast since 2010.

Is there anything else you would like people to know about Seaweed and Sawdust?

We enjoy doing custom pieces the most because we like seeing the customer’s vision come to life.
