Introduction

Hello! I’m Eugene Quiroz, Geno Quiroz’s son. I’m the kid wearing the blue sweater in the November’s First Friday Cash Lunch Mob picture. In this post I’m going to talk about Guitars Not Guns.

Guitars Not Guns Overview

Guitars Not Guns is a nonprofit organization. They currently only teach kids. The instructors give you a free guitar and free guitar lessons. In Marina, they teach kids in the Marina Teen Center, which is right next to Los Arboles Middle School. They go to perform at concerts like First Night in Monterey, West End Celebration, or the International Blues Festival.

What To Expect

When you first join, you start off as a Beginner and can level up to: Advanced Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. When you first start, you get a guitar. If you keep going for 8 weeks, you get to keep the guitar and level up to Advanced Beginner.

This may be different for others, but when I leveled up to Intermediate, I got my own tuner. Finally, when I leveled up to Advanced, and I only did two weeks ago, I had a choice to get either a Bass, an electric or acoustic electric guitar. I chose a Bass.

The instructors here in Marina are: Ms. Amy, Mr. Ben, and Mr. Harry. We are currently learning Jingle Bells for Christmas.

In Closing

Guitars Not Guns is an awesome organization. It has been really helpful for me. Thank you for taking the time to read this post!

I have been homeschooled for a while and I still am. I play a lot of online games like Clash of Clans and The Aetherlight. I sometimes help my dad for Monterey Premier.
